Gunman killed after firing shots in Mojave Desert medical building

RIDGECREST, Calif. (AP) - A 75-year-old man who fired a shotgun on hospital grounds is dead after being shot by a California Highway Patrol officer.

Police in the Mojave (moh-HAH'-vee) Desert community of Ridgecrest say the man fired one shot on the grounds of the regional hospital and entered a medical office building, where he fired several more shots. Police say the man pointed a shotgun at officers after they had warned him to drop the weapon.

Ridgecrest is about 110 miles north of Los Angeles.

I want to see someone do San Diego phonetically damn it! It's not like we're THAT middle-of-no-where. Just cause people call this place the "Gateway to Hell" when it's supposed to be "Gateway to Death Valley" don't mean nothin'!
