Movies 2011

So my last movie list was from May 2008 - Apparently I need to update movies more! So here's my summer list for 2011

The movies in 2008 I wanted to see (and my review) were:

Prince Caspian - saw it and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Kung Fu Panda - Looking forward to the second ond!
Wall-E - Awesome, except the bug in the beginning
You Don't Mess with the Zohan (Adam Sandler's new one) - Worst movie ever
Get Smart - Loved it! Missed it by *this* much!
Indiana Jones and his new adventure - After seeing this one, I don't want to watch any of the original ones.
The Love Guru - Haven't seen it yet.
Hancock (Will Smith!! YAY!) - This one was okay. Hitch was better. Indy Day was even better - of course.

My 2011 Movies List:

Kung Fu Panda 2
Cars 2
Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Harry Potter - The last one
X-Men First Class
Bad Teacher
The Hangover 2
Cowboys and Aliens

Why Gods and Heroes Is Going To Be Awesome

Remember those MUDs we used to play where a guy in his garage used to do the coding after his full time job let out? How he used to stay on from 5pm to 1am coding, doing support, RPing, and just generally being an admin? Heatwave has that sort of passion about what they're doing. It's amazing.

But I promised Pat, after the heartbreak that was Warhammer Online, I'd never, ever, ever, ever, support a game on how awesome it could be, and right now, for my playstyle and MMO needs, Gods and Heroes just isn't going to cut it. It's a $50 box, and $10 a month. If it was a $20 box and $7 dollars a month I'd consider it. But it's not.

Here's my post on the official forums about it.

In the end, this is a company who has come through on what they've said they'll deliver - albeit a little roundabout. Managing expectations is certainly one of the hardest things to do, and Mr. Castoro (YAY Sunsword!!!!!!!!!!!) and his team have truly worked their butts off to present a game they are proud of that will appeal, I think, to a lot of MMOers. I wish I was one of them.

Hopefully once crafting gets implemented I can come back and see, and may re-evaluate at that time. But really, when all my friends are in an MMO I pretty much don't like - I can't see making them leave for GnH, and I don't make friends like I used to. This isn't UO/SWG/EVE - which were a lot of fun to go out and carve a name for yourself.

Until then, I wish Heatwave the very best, and the entire GnH team a hearty thank you!! This team has a lot to be proud of, and I am 100% supportive (minus the $50 and monthly fee) of what they're doing. I hope they can convince me to regret my decision of not purchasing a box and doing the headstart!!!!!!!!!

Interesting Stuff To Read: 11JUN11

The Best Kids Books Are Written In Blood - Some people may want to purge the demons we go through as kids, other embrace it. Personally, those demons that haunt you, they deserve to be confronted, overcome where can, compensated for where you can't confront them, and embraced where you have to. The experiences we have throughout life - they mold us. They make us who they are. Playing Dr. Seuss, even as a child, it does help, but how do we learn to deal with things if all we're spoonfed growing up is happy ever after?

Hoarding, Happiness, and Heartbreak- World of Warcraft as a family event. Online gaming is more than just a game. It's a chance to experience virtual reality with family and friends. Anyone who knows me understands my passion for MMOs, and my love of the experience. Here's how one family experienced it. It's awesome.

Wonder if you'll like cruising? These two threads from Cruise Critic helped me re-live my cruising experience, and after reading these threads, I'm super excited for my next cruise! Thread 1 and thread 2 are by Mike, of Mike and Tracy - a couple who take their family cruising as their vacations.

I want to note that Cres has no light reading to share, since he's busying studying (when isn't he?). So I wanted to share something he shared a few weeks back, it's actually a video. If you're not squeemish, check out the video of that same robot doing a hysterectomy!!

I'z Buzy! No, really!!

My list of stuff to do is extensive and slowly, I'm working my way through it. Maybe not methodically. Maybe not logically, but ya know, so what?

In WoW I'm working on the "Insane in the Membrane" achievement/feat of strength. Right now gathering a gazillion (literally) herbs to make darkmoon cards. John, Monique and I talk constant crap to each other. *sniffs* Just like old times, only without the pet toes. (VERY SAD!).

Pat raids twice a week with his/our guild, Swift Justice. They're 8/12 and are working on Nef. They raid Mon/Wed, so if anyone's interested, they're on Velen, talk to Geofon in game!

I met some dude who's farming for herbs for the sandstone drake. We catch up every time we're in game at the same time. I wish him the very best of luck - but that guy's crazy!!

4.2 is coming - at some point. At which time I'll probably go do the ICC stuff. Looking forward to seeing putricide and sindragosa. And by looking forward, I mean anything that stops Geo from ninja inviting me to raid trash pulls is a good thing!

At work, I daily struggle with not wounding myself from sheer Governmental retardedness. I feel like I'm making progress at achieving what I want as far as how things should be - but the progress is measured in mili-inches.

At home, I'm studying math almost every other week. I hate it. I truly hate it. I'm thinking I'm going to have to switch approaches because what I'm doing now just isn't cutting it. And I need to move it up to at least weekly, if not twice a week. We'll see how the summer goes.

This weekend we're going to clean out the garage - ugh.

Pat got a fisbee golf disc catcher. He's going to wear himself out on it. It's awesome!

BBQ being planned to celebrate my birthday. But it probably won't be until August, so it will be more of a summer BBQ than a birthday party. I'm good with that! Going to be fun!

Vegas on the 23rd to celebrate my birthday with my friends. I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!

In life, Steve Crews' mom is going through cancer treatments, as is the mother of a co-worker. I keep them in my thoughts constantly. I'm thinking I need to start cooking food for folks again. Just something I love doing and my heart really wants to reach out to people this way. I just have to find a better outlet than the last time.

I have to figure out a graduation gift for Lisa, a birthday present for two other people, and two past date birthday presents on the budget of whatever I come home from Vegas with.  They will probably all get cards from Dollar Tree.

In games - Gods and Heroes is doing their open beta this week. Shame they didn't get good details out on time, on point, or focused enough to catch my attention. I looked through 4 websites and 3 FAQs and couldn't figure out how long their open beta was available for. WTF!?

The Wii announced their new console at E3 this week. I've not read enough on it yet to form an opinion. We'll see how things look after the media hype dies down and I can look at details.

WE'RE GOING TO BLIZZCON! Need I say more?

Pat and I had a long discussion on adventure games vs Diablo II and Titan's Quest. We haven't come to a conclusion yet, we haven't really figured out what the labels to use are. We have discovered people who say Guild Wars is an MMO make me twitch.

Pat's playing Borderlands. He got himself stuck on the Xbox version, so he gave the game to Jeremy, and he downloaded it on the computer. Between this and frisbee golf, I will have the house to myself. I'm excited!

Tomorrow is my friday, and a productive three day weekend is in the offing! callooh callay! Have a great weekend everyone!

[Edit: There is truly something screwed up about all this technology around us and Blogger NOT posting the correct HTML to show lists correctly. I posted this, then had to go through and reformat, because apparently Google is retarded. Between their search page becoming cluttered with no option to change the appearance, and their crap like this not working - they're losing it!]
